the story behind the story
The Hava and Poofy stories mean so much to Ava and her father, David, for many reasons, but most of all because they have worked on them together for many years. They did not set out to create a kids book series. But after coming up with the first story and seeing how much they resonated with the characters, new stories quickly emerged.
Her father wanted Ava to have stories that she could grow up with to help navigate the big changes she was going through as she transitioned from being a toddler to what they called being a big “kiddo.”
Every story blends their love of adventure, magic, nature, and mystery in a way that they are sure will captivate children and their parents. They still read the stories together years after writing them. There’s just something about Hava and Poofy that warms the heart and inspires the soul!

Towards the end of 2023, we ran a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for publishing the first book in the series. While most book crowdfunding campaigns are not successful, we DID IT!!! So many people got inspired by the story and the story behind the story.
